Why doesn't my storm
door close all the way?
There are 2 possible
reasons for this: 1. Your storm door closers need to be readjusted; this
occurs from time to time due to weather changes, humidity, etc. Locate
the screw at the end of the closer, open door and let it close to note
the current closing speed. Using a philips head screwdriver adjust
closer to desired speed (left for faster and right for slower). 2. Storm
doors today are more efficient then they were years ago. On some models,
a pocket of air is created between the storm door and the entry door.
When the storm door is closing and the entry door is closed this creates
a cushion of air that does not allow the storm door to close all the
way. With the entry door open the storm door will close correctly, or
when the screen is in the storm door instead of the glass, the storm
door will close correctly. There is no action to be taken when this
occurs other than altering the efficiency of the storm door (removing
bottom weatherstripping and top felt).
Why does
my storm door close too fast or too slow?
Your storm door closer
needs to be readjusted; this occurs from time to time due to weather
changes, humidity, etc. Locate the screw at the end of the closer, open
door and let it close to note the current closing speed. Using a philips
head screwdriver adjust closer to desired speed (left for faster and
right for slower). This is normal customer maintenance.
Why did
the closer pull out of my storm door?
Probable causes: The
wind or another outside force has caught your storm door and has forced
it open. This could have been due to the storm door not being latched or
secured which is the customer's responsibility and is incidental or
consequential damage, which is NOT covered by the limited warranty. You
should turn this in to your homeowner's insurance.
Why is
the push button closer on my storm door stuck open?
Probable cause: You
are trying to push down or pull up on the bottom to release the closer.
Push open the door a few inches wider than its set position, this will
release the closer's push button. Let go of door and let it close
freely.
Do I
need a wind chain for my storm door?
According to Andersen/Emco
All Season Doors, the answer is NO. Their testing indicates that if the
wind is strong enough to pull the closers out of the storm door or door
jambs, the wind chain will almost certainly also fail, causing more
damage to the storm and door jamb than if it were not present. Care
should be taken when operating the door in windy conditions.
Where do
I find my serial number on my Andersen storm door?
Locate the serial
number on the hinge side of the door. Every storm door has a silver tag
on the hinge edge of the storm door, which contains the door's unique
serial number.
